Clipping and / or scissor cut

Each style is different for each breed, some have beards and eyebrows  and different techniques are used for each one. Some breeds should not need any clipping or scissoring just dead coat removed such as Labradors, rough collies and Japanese Akitas. Others such as a Lhasa Apso may be left naturally long, or either clipped or scissored. Some breeds are traditionally hand stripped, where the longer hair is pulled out of the coat regularly, a border terrier or cocker spaniel for instance. Handstripping is however very hard and time consuming to do, unless done very regularly. Because of the time involved it tends to be too costly for the average pet owner and the coat has to be in immaculate condition, these days it tends to be show dogs that have this option.
